The Green Dot in Clonakilty offers a relaxed café experience nestled behind a quaint gift shop, making it a spot that blends everyday convenience with a splash of local charm. Its location on Pearse Street means it sits comfortably within the rhythm of town life—perfect for locals dropping in for a well-crafted coffee or parents looking for a place where kids can be entertained in a dedicated side area.

Visitors often find the coffee here to be a highlight, praised for its strong and consistent quality. The café’s casual vibe suits a mid-morning break or a leisurely afternoon pause. While the cake selection garners mixed opinions, with some finding it just fine and others calling it lovely, there’s enough variety to satisfy a sweet tooth after a freshly brewed cup. The grilled sandwiches also make for a solid light lunch option without fuss.

Atmosphere-wise, The Green Dot carries an inviting, lived-in comfort rather than a polished, showroom feel. The staff earn frequent mention for their friendliness and helpfulness, adding a personal touch that encourages lingering—whether you’re settling in for breakfast, a coffee while waiting for company, or a casual catch-up with friends. On busier afternoons, the wear of quick turnovers becomes apparent with tables occasionally left less tidy, suggesting this is a spot that thrives on its bustling local popularity.

For families, this place works well as a welcoming pit stop, with thoughtful space for children to play nearby without disrupting the mellow café mood. For those seeking a pause in the center of Clonakilty, The Green Dot offers an accessible, slightly off-the-main-route haven where coffee lovers and light lunch seekers blend with shoppers and locals, creating a quietly vibrant corner in town.

The side area for the kids is great. Coffees are very delicious. Cakes okay. The only little minus is, when you come later the tables are not very clean. Hopefully this will be better in the future because it is really a nice coffee in Clonakilty

Went for a coffee and a Cake this morning. Oh my gosh! What a treat! Coffee? Amazing. Cake? Stunning!! I have to say the quality of the products is super and the shop is super cute! Girls serving were the best. Especial mention to Irene, who advised us and served us. Well done girl! Great job!

The best place in West Cork for fantastic coffee and a slice of cake (A+ cookies as well, if you prefer something crunchy). Servers are helpful and speedy, happy to recommend something if you can't decide :D

This café is an absolute gem. Tucked away behind a charming gift shop, it offers amazing food, wonderful hospitality, and a really beautiful atmosphere. The service is incredibly friendly, I spent an hour waiting for my daughter, holding on to one coffee until we then had breakfast, with an amazing variation on the traditional Irish breakfast with black pudding. And then we simply stuck around, later moved to have an amazing lemon and raspberry cake. This is the best possible place to just have breakfast, read a newspaper, go with your kids, meet a friend, or just chill out with a book and some amazing food. Easily one of the best places in Clonakilty. I can only recommend it wholeheartedly.

An absolute must in Clonakilty! It manages to combine a cozy, friendly atmosphere with fabulous service and comfortable seating. The breakfasts I have had here are second to none, with proper portion sizes and something for everyone on the menu. I have to shout-out the buttermilk pancakes, delicious! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great daytime cafe with a craft shop out the front. GF options on bread and cakes. Delicious tomatoes soup and toastie sandwiches with great fillings. Staff helpful and friendly. Some outdoor seating also.

My wife & I had delicious toasties here as we stopped on our travel along the coast road. Salt beef, with cheese, sauerkraut & pickle - fantastic + a lovely large cup of tea
